Calling All Committee Chairs

If you’re the committee chair of a troop or pack and you’re anywhere near Southeastern Michigan, you’ll not only want to plan on attending Great Lakes Council’s University of Scouting on November 6, you’ll want to make sure you’re signed up for the first period class Strictly for Committee Chairs.

Due to time constraints, I’m only able to teach one class this year, but this is it. I’ve been working on putting together a great class to help committee chairs with many of those issues that go beyond what you learn in training courses like Troop Committee Challenge. We sort of pick up where training leaves off (which is the whole point of University of Scouting anyway) and will be covering topics like:

  • Inspiring, supporting and recognizing  your committee members
  • Dealing with conflict within the committee and unit
  • Leading change by advocating your own ideas
  • Developing your leadership and management skills

As is often the case, I present some of these topics in abbreviated form during our monthly Roundtable breakouts, and when I do, I’ll post a summary here on my blog. But you can get the whole thing in one session if you come to Southeastern Michigan University of Scouting. Walk-in registration starts at 7:00 AM. Go here for more information on UoS. See you there!
