No more Scout Parents?

Scoutparents_unitcoordinatorNo, parents are not being pushed out of Scouting. They are as essential as ever from Cubs all the way up to Venturing. Youth Protection Training

Stay on top of Youth Protection Training. Currently, the training must be taken every two years, and if a member's training has expired, they are no longer considered registered. While many councils send reminders to leaders whose training is about to expire, it's best to check your unit's training records in my.scouting.org and remind anyone whose training has expired or is about to expire to retake the course as soon as they can. It's simple: Just go to my.scouting.org and sign in to take YPT.

March reminders

  • Ensure summer camp deposits are paid and that Scouts are registered
  • Your council or district may offer camperships for those who need financial assistance to attend summer camp. Check with your commissioner or council service center for the procedure and forms.
  • Prepare for your new Scouts crossing over from Cub Scouts:
    • As Scouts join, meet with families and provide new parent orientation
    • Promote summer camp to new Scouts and families
    • Identify new parents who may be interested in joining the troop committee
    • Turn in new applications promptly so crossovers can start earning advancement
